STEM Centre Visit - Donnybrook and Kalkallo

On Tuesday, 17 May, students in Years 2, 4 and 6 from Donnybrook and Kalkallo had the opportunity to visit the Mt Ridley Sport Centre, STEM Centre and Visual Arts Centre. They took part in timetabled learning sessions held in these new buildings with lessons based on current topics in Humanities/Science/Technology (HST), Physical Education and Visual Arts. It was an exciting opportunity for these students to not only have access these state-of-the-art facilities but have engaging lessons planned out by Specialist teachers from the Mt Ridley campus. Here are a few of the reflections from the trip.

There was so much space in the Sports Centre. We ran and did some exercise. Science was my favourite part of the day. The guitar we made was really cool. - Khadeeja 2K

The Sports Centre was really big! It was great playing games on the court. My favourite activity was in the STEM Centre. I built a guitar using a carboard box, toilet paper roll and rubber bands. - Flynn 2Z

I was surprised how big the Sports Centre was. It was so much fun running around it. The experiments were fun in the STEM Centre. The staff were really kind and helped us. - Chase 4Y

My first impression of STEM Centre was it was unique. I liked how it was split into a discussion area and an experiment space. The experiment that we conducted was the study of elastic powered cars using recycled materials. During our time at Mt Ridley, we visited the giant Sports Centre. We played some fun games like dodgeball and basketball. At the end of the visit, we enjoyed playing on oval. I had a great time. - Harvin 6Y
