Frequently Asked Questions

Why is Hume Anglican Grammar opening a new campus?

We are proud of our success and the strong growth of our school community. Establishing a fourth campus ensures that we can continue to provide high-quality, values-driven education to more families in the region, now and into the future. It has always been our mission to provide an affordable, high-quality education to as many families as possible.

When will the new campus open?

Construction is planned to commence in 2032 and first classes onsite will be for the commencement of the 2033 academic year. We are announcing the project now so that our community is informed and can share in this vision for the future.

Where will the new campus be located?

In the suburb of Wollert, straddling two residential estates; Mason Quarter and Lyndarum North. It is nestled in between Boundary Road to the North, Epping Road to the East, Edgars Road to the West and to the South is Craigieburn Road East.

Can I find the location on a map?

The actual site itself is not yet developed, but the closest road is Ellesmere Blvd. Click on this link to see the site location.

What will the local community look like?

The roads and houses are developing rapidly around the location. By the time we occupy the site the area will be very well developed. It is adjacent to the future town centre, which will have retail, commercial and community amenities. Immediately to the east will be a public recreational reserve like the Donnybrook and Kalkallo campuses. The proposed Wollert train station will also be very close.

Who are the developers?

There are two, as the property overlaps two residential estates. Mason Quarter is part of Cedar Woods, and Lyndarum North belongs to the AVID Property Group (previously AV Jennings). The School has been working with both for many months and have formed a strong relationship, there are also a number of nearby residential estates the School is expected to serve.

Will this improve the prospects of my child finding a place at Hume?

Ultimately, yes. This campus will, over time, have the capacity to accommodate an additional 2,500+ students from Prep to Year 12. Currently, demand for places at Hume far exceeds spots available, resulting in a large waiting pool. This new campus will allow more families to find a place at the School well into the future.

Will the campus open with Prep to 12 Year levels?

Initially it will not. The current plan being to open at lower primary, and in time the Year 6 students will then lead the expansion into secondary years. The expected year for a full Prep to 12 cohort is 2039.  Having said this, depending on demand there is a possibility that the campus may also open with Year 7, however this will be determined at a later stage.

Why are you announcing so early if construction will not commence until 2032?

This is a long-term investment in our school community. Announcing now allows the School to share the good news and engage in careful planning through open communication with families. We are also very excited in being able to affirm our vision for the School’s future.

Will this distract from works yet-to-be-completed at the current three campuses?

The six years from now until construction commences allows the School to continue to develop the other three campuses. Each have a number of stages scheduled for completion, and this provides sufficient time to focus on these capital projects. These will continue as planned and our current master planned projects will progress unabated.

How will the new campus be funded?

The development of the new campus will be funded separately, along with government grants where available. As is now, our current three campuses are fully integrated, whilst the day-to-day finances are managed separately for each site.

Will this affect current students or campuses?

No. Our current campuses will continue to operate as normal, and there will be no changes to existing enrolments or plans. The new campus is about expansion, not replacement.

How many students, and at what year levels will the campus enrol?

The site is 10 hectares, which is a good size to offer both Primary and Secondary. Therefore, it will be a Prep to 12 campus, the same as Donnybrook and Freier. When full, it is anticipated to have over 2,500 students enrolled. Like our other campuses, the development will be staged, commencing with Junior Primary and moving up into Secondary over time. However, it may be possible to start at Year 7 in those first years if there is sufficient interest.

What is the difference between a three-campus and a four-campus school?

Very little. Just like when we commenced the second campus in 2019, and then the third in 2023, there is little notable change to a student’s or parent’s school life. We remain one school, currently on three locations and in the future, on four. What will bring the community comfort, is that having established a new campus twice before, we are better for the experience and so more confident in making plans and decisions.

Will the school fees for the Wollert campus be the same as the others?

Yes, the fee structure will be the same regardless of which campus your family attends.

Will the curriculum be the same?

Yes, as is the current practice, the curriculum and programs will be consistent across the four campuses. This includes Assemblies, Chapel, the organisation of the School day.

What facilities will be available on opening?

Like Donnybrook and Kalkallo, the building masterplan will be staged over the years. As the campus grows, so too will the number of buildings, playgrounds and other amenities. The goal is always to match capital development with the student numbers and year levels.

Will there be a bus service, instrumental music program and out-of-school-hours care?

This campus will offer the same services as the others, which may be phased in depending upon enrolment growth and year levels offered.

If I have a child at Kalkallo, will this be a third option to continue into Secondary?

Yes. When the Wollert Campus offers Year 7, then those graduating from Year 6 at Kalkallo will have three pathways to continue their secondary journey – Donnybrook, Freier or Wollert.

What does this mean in terms of the governance and management of the School?

It will be no different to the arrangement when the other campuses were introduced. The current Board of Directors will continue to fulfil its role for the whole school. In regard to management, the Principal will continue to lead the School and, closer to the date of opening, a Head of Campus (Wollert) will be appointed.

I will have a child at one of the other campuses, will I be able to move them to Wollert?

The School has a no-transfer policy, which means that students cannot move from one campus to another (except for those graduating Year 6 at Kalkallo). However, in the early years it is anticipated that we will allow students to transfer from one of the other campuses to Wollert only. This will be for a short period when it opens and will be subject to availability.

Where are your other campuses?

Donnybrook Campus (P-12 by 2028, current years are P-9) is at 40 Eucalyptus Parade, Donnybrook

Freier Campus (P-12) is at 100 Mt Ridley Road, Mickleham

Kalkallo Campus (P-6) is at 27 Goodman Avenue, Kalkallo.
