Private Education at Hume Anglican Grammar

In this edition of 'Proud Parents' we meet Janet Costanzo, mother of Joshua Costanzo who is in Year 8 at our Mt Ridley campus.

Janet worked for the State Government for 20 years before Joshua was born. After Joshua was born, Janet decided to leave her career and become a stay-at-home mum, a job that she loves. Janet is married to Vince Costanzo.

Why did you choose Hume Anglican Grammar for your son?

When deciding on a school, my husband and I liked the idea of a Prep to Year 12 school. In 2013 we attended a school tour and Open Day and were impressed by the School’s vision going forward. We also thought the students were very respectful towards the parents.

What has been the fondest memory of your time here at our school?

My fondest memories are from Primary school when I volunteered in my son’s class every week and attended many excursions as a parent helper.

What do you value most about education?

A school education is not just about the curriculum, it’s also about learning other skills needed to navigate life.

We note that you volunteer at the school – why do you think this is important?

During my son’s primary school years, I loved being in his class helping the students and teachers. Volunteering is important to me as it’s a great way to meet other parents and without volunteers, the students wouldn’t be able to enjoy fun things such as zooper dooper days run by the PFA.

Fast Four:

If your friends could describe you in one word, what would it be?
Talkative.

If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?
My parents who have passed away.

Favourite travel spot?
My favourite travel spot is the United States of America.

What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
I love listening to Neil Diamond!
