Starting school is such an exciting momentum in every child’s life. Normally, by this time of the year, we would have conducted our 3 Prep Orientation sessions, and our new students would be buzzing with excitement having met their new teacher and peers.

This year, as with many things, we have needed to think creatively about how to run a solid Prep transition program for our 2021 students.

Throughout Term 3, we ran live ‘Be PREPared’ webinars where students were able to familiarise themselves with the Hume staff members and participate in hands-on activities in preparation for school.

Our first official Prep orientation session for Term 4 was also run via Zoom, where students were able to connect with their teacher and see the faces of some of their new classmates. Parents were given all the information they would need for the year ahead in our live Prep Information Webinar. A wonderful opportunity we had this year was to visit our new students at their current kindergarten and see them engaging with their educators and their peers.

We are so thankful that due to the most recent easing of restrictions, we were able to welcome our 2021 Prep students and their parents on-site this week. Students were required to attend in small groups with strict cleaning protocols in place in between each session. It was so wonderful to see the Prep classrooms filled with excitement as students, teachers and parents finally met each other face-to-face.

We wish our 2021 Prep students well as they finish kinder and prepare for school in the coming months. We look forward to welcoming them to Prep in February next year.
