Year 3 - Donnybrook

It has been heart-warming to see the Year 3 students back in the classroom, interacting with their friends and teachers. Though the effects of COVID still linger, across Australia our students and families have carried themselves with resilience and maturity. It is times like this that we often reflect on how lucky we are to have the supportive community that we do. We also acknowledge how important it is to celebrate our students learning with all stakeholders. Our students have engaged in many events across both terms and the Year 3 Team are overjoyed to share with you the amazing moments where are students colours truly shined.

We kicked of this Term with our Parent-Teacher Interviews. Though conducted online it was a fantastic opportunity to meet with our families to discuss our students learning and next step goals. We truly appreciate all the parents that found the time to meet with us. By collaborating with each other we help set our students up for success.

On our Mothers’ Evening, we were able to acknowledge and celebrate mothers for all that they do for our students. The Year 3 Team organised to make origami love hearts. It was a memorable moment watching students sit with their mothers and craft such a beautiful memento.

Monday, 2 May saw students from Years 3 - 6 participate in our annual House Cross Country event. Students in Year 3 ran 2km as quickly as possible to support their respective Houses. Though they were exhausted from the event it was amazing to watch them strive for first place. We are looking forward to our upcoming assembly in which the winning House will be revealed!

In the classroom we have been experimenting with heat and looking at its impact on humans and the environment. Watching our students collaborate as they form hypothesis, engage in rich discussions, and create a range of procedural texts and posters has been fantastic. Of course, melting chocolate with our bare hands was also very fun!
