Founders' Day Celebration

On 22 May 2007, a very important document was received by a group of dedicated, aspiring and hopeful people regarding the future of a new School. This official endorsement was the authorised registration of Hume Anglican Grammar and that the School is a recognised organisation.

So, this day marks the founding date of our school. It was the time when all the plans, dreams and hard work were realised through this official certification. One can only imagine the incredible amount of work that would have to be done to create a School from nothing. This journey would have seen joy, sadness, excitement, and fear - but ultimately absolute delight.

Eight months after this certificate was received, the first classes commenced in 2008 with 37 students and 5 staff. This Friday we celebrate the 15th anniversary of this momentous day, now with a school of 1,970 students and some 180 members of staff. We have come so far in such a short time.

Hume’s past is important - it tells our story, explains why we are who we are, it shows others all those things we stand for, and allows us to be proud of our heritage. But just as important is our future. We continue to be a growing and an ever-changing school; we face new challenges - but we overcome them with devotion and strength. We look forward to exciting times ahead, each day sees changes, but we are adaptable and welcome the opportunities they provide. Some families have only been with our school for a short time, and a small number have been here from the very beginning. We are all travelling our personal journey, but we all contribute to a flourishing school culture in our own unique way.

The past 14 years have been wonderful, and I know the next 14 will also be exciting filled with happiness and success.
