Lego Club is Back!! - Mt Ridley

With the reintroduction of the Co-curricular Program, we were excited to be able to restart the popular after-hours Lego Club!

Sixty students from Years 2 - 6 were lucky enough to be invited to join this group this year. The number on the waiting list is triple this amount again and we hope that we will have an opportunity to offer these students a place during the year.

Students in Years 2 – 4 are currently working in mixed groups of three or four students on a variety of kits. Through this social activity, students are engaging in teamwork, problem-solving and creative play. All of these are essential skills both in and outside of the classroom. The students are enjoying building their creations both big and small.

Students in Year 5 - 6 are also working in mixed groups, however have had the opportunity to work with some of the more technical and robotic Lego education kits. This will then extend to some opportunities to use some basic programming and coding skills. At the moment, they are enjoying learning about their kits and exploring what they can create and build. We can’t wait to see some of the finished projects down the track!

Lego club also promotes both STEM skills and individual wellbeing through a positive social emotional experience in both structured and unstructured play. This is just one of the many benefits of our cocurricular clubs and the opportunity to extend students beyond the traditional classroom setting.
