Supporting the Transition Back to Onsite Learning

The gradual lifting of restrictions is beginning to remind us of what life was like pre-Covid. It was interesting to see the expressions on the faces of our Preps as they first returned to onsite learning on Monday, 18 October. It was a cross between complete confusion and excitement. Some looked as though they had just woken up (and many likely had), whilst others looked completely at ease as if nothing unusual was occurring. At that point, I realised that not everyone would be as excited as I was about returning to school after many weeks of Remote Teaching and Learning (RTL). Students are going to need time to readjust, just as they did when moving into a period of RTL. Friendships will be re-kindled and behaviours may need to be adjusted as they fit back into a class of 27 others. Just as their faces tell a story, so to will their actions. Some will need additional support both at home and school and others will slip back into school life without missing a beat. The reality is, everyone will react differently to their transition back to school and we all need to be prepared to support and encourage the youngest members of our community as they return to school. The Wellbeing Team and Homeroom teachers are well and truly ready to welcome our students back and respond to any potential areas of concern.

The next 5 weeks will be extremely busy. We have a number of significant events planned and as we speak, our Term 4 calendar is nearing capacity. We recently received wonderful news concerning incursions, excursions and camps. As outlined in the advice provided by the Victorian State Government Education and Training, we can now proceed with our tentative bookings and continue providing the well-rounded educational experiences that we have all grown accustomed to. We will of course, continue to follow all safety requirements and abide by the protocols outlined for schools without exception.

We very much look forward to operating onsite at 100% with all students and staff back full time from Wednesday, 3 November.

Wishing you a wonderful long weekend and a successful return back to school.
