Students in year seven Humanities have begun Term 2 looking at historical concepts and skills. One historical skill students have been practicing is timelines. Students were able to confidently indicate where BCE and CE went on a timeline and they were able to differentiate between BC and BCE, as well as CE and AD.

Students enjoyed working in groups to create chalk timelines on the pavement.

I think the chalk timeline activity was a good and a different way for us to learn. It made the task fun and a lot clearer for us to understand the topic. Working in groups also played an important role in our learning because we had the support from our peers and thought of different strategies to work together. This ensured everyone played a part in the activity and allowed us to complete the task efficiently. I enjoyed this activity and hope it is something that we can do again. - Tiarna Nardella 7C

In Humanities this term we were learning about timelines. Timelines represent when a certain event occurred in the past. In one Humanities lesson, we went outside and drew a timeline of our own in chalk. On our timelines, we had to indicate where AD, BC, BCE, and CE appear. There were some challenges along the way, such as needing to make our number lines really big and long so that the letters and numbers could be read. It was very fun doing this activity with Mrs Gurney. She makes a lot of activities in class fun. - Natalie Joynson 7B
