Each year, Harmony Week provides us with an opportunity to celebrate Australia’s cultural diversity. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.
What is Harmony Week?
Harmony Week is a time to celebrate Australian multiculturalism, and the successful integration of migrants into our community. Australia is one of the most successful multicultural countries in the world and we should celebrate this and work to maintain it.
Harmony Week is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values.
In celebration of this event, Primary students across both our Mt Ridley and Donnybrook Campuses spent the week involved in a number of fun, culturally significant activities - all of which culminated in our annual 'Cultural Dress Day' which encourages students to come to school dressed in traditional cultural dress from either their own family's heritage, or that of our curriculum LOTE, Italian.
Activities included a competitive game of soccer, some casual Bocce, cultural dancing lessons, cultural artwork and even some sweet gelati treats just to name a few!
