At Hume Anglican Grammar, we believe Student Wellbeing extends beyond the classroom.
When students feel safe and connected, they are better equipped to thrive both academically and personally. As Year 12 Coordinator, I value opportunities for students to hear from presenters who provide the knowledge and skills needed to navigate an increasingly complex world.
Recently, our Year 12 students participated in several presentations designed to support their wellbeing and prepare them for life beyond school.
Our Year 12 boys heard from Daniel Principe, who explored topics including healthy relationships, consent and the impact of toxic masculinity. Through honest and thought-provoking discussion, students were encouraged to reflect on the importance of empathy, respect and challenging harmful stereotypes.
The Year 12 girls attended a presentation by Consent Labs, which provided practical, evidence-based education around consent and personal boundaries. The session reinforced the importance of mutual respect and empowered students to make informed decisions in their relationships.
The Pat Cronin Foundation delivered a powerful message to the wider Year 12 cohort about the devastating consequences of the coward punch. Through sharing Pat's story, students were challenged to consider the impact of their choices, the importance of walking away from violence and the role they can play in creating safer communities.
Our students also participated in a Red Frogs presentation that focused on navigating the increased independence that often comes with life after school. Topics such as alcohol awareness, looking after friends and making safe choices encouraged students to approach future experiences with responsibility and care for themselves and others.
These presentations reflect our belief that supporting young people requires a partnership between school, families and the wider community. By providing opportunities for students to engage with experts in these areas, we aim to equip them not only for success in Year 12 but also for the challenges and opportunities that lie beyond the School gates.
