2025 Donnybrook Campus

In this edition of Meet the Team, we are pleased to introduce you to Jack Lord, Co-Curricular Co-ordinator (Primary) and Year 6 Teacher at our Donnybrook Campus.

Jack started at Hume four years ago, after completing his final placement at the Australian Catholic University. Jack began his journey at Hume Anglican Grammar working part-time teaching PE, then moved into teaching Year 4 full-time for the next two years.

What do you like most about working at Hume Anglican Grammar?
The greatest part of working at Hume Anglican Grammar is collaborating with the staff members at the Donnybrook Campus. As this is the first school I have worked at, I feel that I am incredibly lucky to have landed in such a great workplace.

Our students also strongly contribute to the positive environment that has been built. Their attitudes towards learning and general behaviour make each day enjoyable. I look forward to many more years teaching as a part of this growing school.

Can you tell us about a project you are currently working on?
I have worked on lots of projects this year, including the planning of the Athletics, Swimming and Cross-country Carnivals for Donnybrook Primary. Currently, my main project is managing the weekly interschool sport competition. This term, our sports are volleyball, soft ball and tennis.

Who has had the biggest impact on your career and why?
The biggest impact on my career so far has been a mixture of many staff members who I collaborate with at the Donnybrook Campus. Particularly Jo Ellis, Deb Molloy and Richard Giarrusso. They are the first ones I turn to when I need guidance. They have provided me with immense support and strongly contribute to the reason why I love coming to work.

When I was in primary school, I was taught by a teacher, Michael Goodyear, who single-handedly inspired me to become a teacher. The way he connected with us as students and made each lesson fun has stuck with me to this day.

Fast Four

If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?
I would love to have dinner with DJ/music producer Will Sparks.

What is your favourite movie?
The Simpsons movie, all-time classic.

If you could only eat one cuisine for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Definitely Italian.

What is one thing you couldn’t live without?
Lollies. Particularly lolly snakes. Natural Confectionary always.
