Private Education at Hume Anglican Grammar

In this edition of ‘Meet the Team’, we have the pleasure of introducing you to Elyse Hudson, the Secondary School Administrative Officer at our Mt Ridley campus.

Elyse has been an integral part of the Hume Anglican Grammar team since June 2022, starting out as the Receptionist in the Mt Ridley Homestead before moving on to her current role. Prior to joining the Hume Anglican Grammar family, Elyse worked as a Medical Receptionist at a well-known Physiotherapy Clinic, gaining valuable experience in the field.

What do you like most about working at Hume Anglican Grammar?

As cliché as it is to say, I always envisioned myself working in a school setting. Working at Hume allows me to utilise all the skills I have gained throughout my employment and use them in a meaningful and fulfilling way. I like that my job serves the school community and benefits the lives of staff, students and parents. The sense of community and the kindness of all staff is what I like most about Hume Anglican Grammar. It makes coming to work each day enjoyable!

Provide us with a 'snapshot' of your daily routine at school.

A Snapshot into my day at school could be very different depending on the day, which is what I love about my job.

A snapshot into what a typical day looks like would be something like this:

  • Check emails in the morning.
  • Assist with the morning routine prior to students arriving.
  • Supporting the Assistant Principal, Year Level Coordinators and Heads of Faculty with administrative tasks.
  • Covering the Secondary Reception for breaks.
  • Daily administration to ensure the Secondary School runs smoothly each day.

Who has had the most significant impact on your career and why?

My siblings. They are both teachers, and I have always wanted to follow in their footsteps. I started a teaching degree but did not complete it because my daughter was born.

Working in this environment fulfils my desire to be in the school setting and utilise my administration skillset!

Fast Four:

If your friends could describe you in one word, what would it be?
Selfless.

If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?
My family. All of them! My children, husband, parents, siblings, nephews and nieces, grandparents and cousins! They are my favourite people to be around and give me all the love and entertainment I need!

What is your favourite travel spot?
So far, my favourite place I’ve visited is Venice! Unpopular opinion, but I loved it. Also, Disneyland, for obvious reasons!

What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
I can recite the entire film “The Parent Trap.”
