Kalkallo Campus 2023

Over recent months many groups have been working extremely hard to commence school at the new Kalkallo campus next year. This includes the construction company responsible for the first building as well as the civil engineers preparing the carpark, paths, and installing essential amenities. Architects, town planners and the land developers have all worked professionally and tirelessly to ensure all could be done to meet the timeline but have been faced with some challenging circumstances.

As reported in the media, the construction industry has faced significant difficulties in recent times. Delays with the delivery of construction materials, availability of a regular workforce, challenging site conditions, along with protracted timelines associated with approvals from the authorities due to their own workflow issues, has meant the project has not been able to keep up with the construction schedule.

Unfortunately, the opening will be delayed by up to eight weeks from the commencement of Term 1. It has now come to a point where we must move to our contingency plan; to accommodate students at our Donnybrook campus for the first term of 2023. Whilst it may be possible to move to the new campus late in Term 1, it is wiser to make a fresh start at Kalkallo at the commencement of Term 2.

Earlier today I wrote to the Kalkallo families with this news. I thank them for their understanding, and I know with confidence our community spirit will support them, and the Donnybrook community during this time. Those Kalkallo students already at Donnybrook will see little difference in school life, but those new to Hume Anglican Grammar may feel the impact somewhat more. I have assured them that the necessary teachers, support staff and resources will all be in place to provide everything that the children and their families need.

The Assistant Principal - Primary (Kalkallo), Kristen Smith has also explained the arrangements to look after the children at Donnybrook providing an environment that will be safe, supportive and allow the education program to continue.

We all very much look forward to the campus opening in April next year.
