Rob Mitchell MP Visit

It was a great pleasure to have Mr Rob Mitchell MP, the Federal Member for McEwen, visit Hume Anglican Grammar’s Donnybrook campus on Wednesday, 21 February.

His visit coincided with the upcoming Year 6 Canberra Tour and our inquisitive students were eager to ask Mr Mitchell numerous questions relating to politics.

Mr Mitchell's visit was focused on government systems and how they run. He gave them an insight into the challenges that the government faces and how rules and laws are made and carried out. The students were fascinated to learn about the intricate workings of the government and how decisions are made.

During his address, he shared his motto - never give up. Relating this to his own experiences, he spoke about his experience as a politician and how he lost by 31 votes in the first election but did not give up. Instead, he waited until the next election to try again and eventually won. The students were motivated and inspired by his talk and took a valuable lesson from it.

Overall, it was a wonderful experience for the students, who gained a deeper insight into the workings of the government and the importance of perseverance in preparation of their visit to our Nation’s Capital. We are grateful to Mr Mitchell for taking the time to visit and share his knowledge and wisdom.
