An Exciting Return to School - Mt Ridley

Welcome back! It was wonderful to greet students and parents as they returned to school for the commencement of Term 3. I paid particular attention to see the reaction on faces as they first glimpsed the new synthetic grass and markings that now cover the concrete Piazza ground. This has been a wonderful upgrade that has softened the feel of the Piazza and given it a new lease of life. I’m sure the new games will be very well used. The entrance to the Basketball courts and the walkway alongside the Year 5 and 6 Centre has also been covered with new synthetic grass which not only looks great but also reduces the mud and sand that ends up in classrooms thus serving a number of positive purposes. You may have also noticed the large yellow posts surrounding the steps above the climbing playground. I hope that by the time you read this article, the shade sails will also be fitted, providing both shade and shelter all year round. The Capital works undertaken in the Primary school over the holidays has been a welcomed addition and adds to the overall feel and look of the spaces frequented by our students. It is also worth mentioning the new furniture in the B2 Centre space. Used during the day by our Year 1 and 2 students and after hours by Big Childcare, the furniture complements the space and provides break out learning opportunities and looks terrific.

Term 3 is sure to be another action-packed term with a number of significant events planned. These include, but are not limited to, Year 6 Canberra tour, Year 5 Sovereign Hill camp, Year 3-6 Athletics Carnival, Prep 2023 ‘Be PREPared’ sessions, Book Week, ICAS, Father’s Day celebration, Parent/Teacher interviews and of course, our Primary Production of the Lion King Jr. Wow!! I’m exhausted just writing it all down.

We hope Term 3 is both rewarding and enjoyable for all.
