Primary Italian - Mt Ridley

Students have had a very busy semester. As a part of the Year 1, Term 4 unit based on Cenerentola (Cinderella), students watched a live bilingual puppet show. This show was highly engaging and there was a very cheerful energy radiating from our students. This was a highly beneficial educational experience as students witnessed the vocabulary they have been studying being used in a practical way.

Year 1 students weren’t the only ones to have all the fun. Our Prep and Years 2 - 6 students watched a Ciao Italia incursion. Emilio put on a wonderful performance which allowed students to learn about Italian migration, food, dance, soccer and travel. Students expressed that a highlight for them included dancing the Tarantella with their teachers. It was a pleasure witnessing our students smiling the entire session.

Students have been enjoying their Term 4 studies which encompass a range of celebrations. A true personal pleasure of mine has been seeing students excited to use Italian outside of the classroom. A great example of this includes when I have been on yard duty and have had Italian students running up to me asking if we can play Italian Pacman, 21 and Numero di Sventamento (Number of Doom). Seeing that our students want to do this during their play time, demonstrates how our fantastic Italian teacher, Stephanie Crea excites, educates and engages students.

I am looking forward to seeing our students flourish even further in 2023.
