Exams and Transition

Examinations for students in Years 10 - 12 are now complete and examinations for Years 7 - 9 students take place next week. While some anxiety related to examination performance is to be expected, there are several simple messages that have been reinforced with Years 7 - 9 students in the lead-up to the exams.

Firstly, exams are a good way to track students’ effort and progress, but examination results are just one of a multitude of assessments conducted throughout the semester that reflect this. Secondly, examinations are a wonderful preparation tool for the more rigorous exams students will inevitably face in the senior secondary years and beyond. And finally, our students are always encouraged to do their best, and be prepared to hear and see ways in which they can grow and develop - feedback post-exams provide students with this opportunity.

We are moving swiftly towards the end of the year and transition for Year 10 and 11 students has already begun. I encourage students to maximise the remaining opportunities they have with their teachers, Homeroom teachers and Year Level Coordinators, who have guided them for nearly a year now. Students should maintain their momentum and motivation until the end of the year by seeking feedback from staff and taking this into consideration as they finish off the final weeks of the school year and prepare to make the step into the 2023 academic year.
