On 22 May each year we acknowledge and celebrate the group of people whose idea it was to create Hume Anglican Grammar. Founders’ Day offers us the chance to honour the achievement of our founders; to reflect on the past, to look at the present, and imagine the future. The activities in which students engaged over the course of their celebrations (on Friday, 20 May) were testament to the School’s continued success.

Hume Anglican Grammar is thriving. Our school is growing, with three campuses, new buildings, many more students and staff, diverse curricular and co-curricular opportunities. And each of us in the School community plays a role in ensuring that Hume continues to be exceptional. At the Primary school assemblies on our day of celebration, I affirmed for students that when they actively learn in class or participate in a co-curricular activity or demonstrate one of the School’s values, they are building our school. The School is a community of learners and the active participation of students, staff and families ensures that the legacy of its founders lives on.

The creators of Hume Anglican Grammar lay the foundations for young people to enjoy an outstanding education, where individual gifts, talents and strengths can be developed, and where they can not only reach but exceed their potential.

On Founders’ Day we honour what was and rejoice at what is to come.
