Hume Anglican Grammar is a dual campus co-educational Anglican Diocesan School offering education from Prep to Year 12 in the Northern growth corridor of Melbourne.
In 2019, the School opened its second campus on an 8 hectare site on Donnybrook Road, 10kms and 10 minutes from the Mt Ridley campus. Commencing with 140 students from Prep to Year 3, each year additional classes and year levels will be added so the campus will have an enrolment of 1,300 from Prep to Year 12.
In 2020, the School will have an enrolment of over 1,445 students (Mt Ridley 1,205 & Donnybrook 240) and employ 140 staff - 100 teaching and 40 general. The School is on a growth trajectory and will ultimately have some 2,700 students with plans for further expansion.
First Aid Officer - Part time
Hume now calls for applications for the position of First Aid Officer. This is a newly created - ongoing position, due to the substantial growth of our School. The First Aid Officer has primary responsibility for the School's first aid provision to students and first aid supplies.
As a member of a highly professional General staff team, the First Aid Officer works collaboratively with team members to ensure effective and efficient administration of First Aid services across both the Primary and Secondary schools.
The First Aid Officer is recognised as very organised and self-disciplined. They have high standards and strive to improve their own practice and to make efficiencies in the school setting.
Ensuring the First Aid Centre is a welcoming, supportive, effective and efficient environment is essential for students, staff and visitors. The First Aid Officer fills in for the full-time First Aid Officer in their absence on Personal Leave days and will assist in managing the morning school attendance, and provides general administrative support as required.
The First Aid Officer works 39 weeks of the year which includes the 38 term weeks and the one week prior to the commencement of the academic year.
Part time hours: 10:00am-3:00pm (neg).
Upon commencement, this position will be located at the Mt Ridley Campus.
Roles and responsibilities will include:
- Attending to unwell or injured students
- Contacting parents and reassuringly convey the circumstances of their child
- Communicating with parents as necessary to ensure all health information is up-to-date and accurate
- Maintaining records of attendance at the Health Centre, including treatment notes
- Maintaining and updating records of student medical conditions and allergies
- Producing student reports for camps, excursions and others as required
- Maintaining resources, equipment and stocks relating to student health and first aid
- Organising and assisting with first aid training for staff, including asthma awareness and anaphylaxis management
- Ensuring that student medication accompanies students when they are off campus for any reason during the School day
- Managing all aspects of first aid kits and ensuring they loaned complete for school use and excursions or co-curricular activities
Non First Aid duties
- Maintaining daily student attendance records for both the Primary and Secondary school
- Following up on student absences when necessary
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential
- Current Provide First Aid qualification
- Ability to exert calm authority in medical emergency situations
- Ability to communicate clearly and calmly under pressure
- Experience in conducting anaphylaxis verification training sessions
Desirable
- Computer skills in the MS Office suite including PowerPoint, Word and Excel
- Knowledge of the SIMON and Synergetic School Management Systems
- Previous work in an educational setting would be advantageous

Salary:
The Hume Anglican Grammar Agreement 2019 classifies this position as General Staff Level 3.
This position on a full time basis would consist of, 39 work weeks, 5 weeks paid annual leave, and 8 weeks unpaid leave.
The following full time gross annual salary (excluding super) will be pro rated based on the agreed part time hours, and the sub level will be determined by the successful candidates experience in a like role and relevant qualifications.
