Donnybrook House Soccer Competition

Last week, students took part in a House Soccer Tournament. The following article is written by Donnybrook Olrig House Captain, Ishwin Kaur.

On Friday, 18 March the Inaugural Donnybrook House Soccer Tournament commenced with Olrig v Ridley, and Craigie v Summerhill. As the House Captain of Olrig, I will be telling you about the Ridley and Olrig Match. I did not play in the match; however, I did take part in supporting Olrig by cheering my team on and making sure everyone watching was safe.

One thing that was very heartwarming was the fact that so many Preps, Years 1, 2 and 3 students came just to watch the match. None of them were participating on the day, but they still came to support their Houses and watch the older kids play. The younger kids were so excited to see their House score a goal, or to talk to a House Captain. One little boy told all his friends that I was a House Captain, and to see their reactions made my day! In the end, the score was tied, 1 - 1, but for me the thrill of seeing everyone together and participating was the best. In the other match Craigie beat Summerhill 3 - 1.

This Friday we welcome Year 3 and 4 students from their houses to compete at the beginning of lunch. We look forward to more exciting and action-packed games. - Ishwin 6X
