Affordable Prep to Year 12 Private Education

A visit to the Royal Children's Hospital in support of her younger brother would prompt Year 5 student Harnoor into action.

A visit to the Royal Children's Hospital in support of her younger brother would prompt Year 5 student Harnoor into action seeking out an opportunity to make a difference to those less fortunate than her. Having noticed just how many young children (and indeed adults) experience hair loss as a result of Cancer treatments, Harnoor made the courageous decision to donate some of her own hair to Variety's 'Hair with Heart' initiative - a hair donation program that helps to create real hair wigs for someone that has lost hair due to long term medical conditions.

What seems like a regular occurrence for many would be a big step for Harnoor, who had never cut or altered her hair since birth. "I loved my long hair but our teachers in school teach us how to be kind, encourage us to care for others and consider how simple acts could change someone’s day or even their life" recalls Harnoor, who has been a member of our Donnybrook Campus since 2019.

Filled with pride, Harnoor's Mother Sukhpreet could not wait to share the news of her daughter’s inspirational act of kindness. "As parents, we are just so proud of Harnoor. She has inspired us to continue to seek ways to do good for our community and we're truly grateful that Hume Anglican Grammar instils in our children the moral values of life. These are values that nobody can learn from books."

Assistant Principal Primary (Donnybrook), Rebecca Riley, sees Harnoor's decision as one that will inspire not just fellow students, but Staff within our school community aswell. "This is such an outstanding reflection of Harnoor's character and the importance of our school values: Christian, Excellence, Resilience, Respect, Integrity and Safety. For a young child to make such a big decision on her own accord, for the betterment of others, is so heartening to see".
