At this year’s Founders’ Day celebrations, on Friday 22 May, Hume Anglican Grammar was proud to welcome six alumni back to speak across our three campuses.
Ekam (Class of 2024), Meron (Class of 2024), Natasha (Class of 2013), Jyothi (Class of 2014), Seejal (Class of 2014) and Amneet (Class of 2020) shared their experiences, reflections and journeys since graduating from the School.
Hearing from past students is always a valuable experience for our community. Their stories remind current students of the many pathways that begin at Hume and highlight the lasting connections formed during their years at the School. Alumni voices bring encouragement, perspective and inspiration, while also demonstrating the strong sense of belonging that continues long after graduation.
One particularly meaningful address came from Amneet, who returned not only as an alumna, but also as a teacher. Having commenced at Hume in 2011 and graduated in 2020, Amneet reflected on the remarkable growth of the School during its formative years. She spoke about 'the change from the temporary campus at Sunbury to this campus' and the many developments she witnessed over time, including 'the addition of new buildings, sports areas and other facilities.' Her reflections highlighted the unique perspective of someone who has grown alongside the School since its early beginnings.
Amneet also spoke about the lasting impact her teachers had on her throughout her time at Hume and how their guidance inspired her to pursue teaching herself.
'It was because of them that I decided to become a teacher,' she shared. 'I wanted to create ripples in the minds of my students, wanted them to think back on their Year 4 teacher, years from now, and smile. Wanted to inspire them, just like I have been.'
Returning to teach at the very year level where her own Hume journey began has made the experience even more meaningful.
We thank all six alumni for giving their time and for continuing to contribute so positively to the Hume community.
