We are proud to congratulate Aiden (Year 11) and Anushka (Year 9) both from our Freier Campus on their election to the 2026 Hume Youth Council through the Young Mayors election process.
Aiden was motivated to apply by his passion for leadership and community involvement, seeing the role as a chance to make a real impact while challenging himself to learn and grow. After submitting his application and campaign video, he took part in campaign workshops and a week-long community voting process. Grateful for the support of his friends and campaign team, Aiden is excited to represent young people and is particularly passionate about improving youth mental health support, public transport, and creating safe spaces and activities for young people.
Anushka applied to ensure young people’s voices are heard in local decision-making and to help create meaningful opportunities for the youth of today and into the future. Following her application, she participated in campaign sessions, developed a strategy, and campaigned across the School and wider community. She says she feels proud and motivated to take on the responsibility, with a strong focus on listening to the community and shaping Youth Council priorities around what young people need most.
We congratulate Aiden and Anushka on this outstanding achievement and look forward to the positive contributions they will make in 2026.
