2022 - A Year of Opportunity

As I reflect on the past two years, I marvel at how well the Hume Anglican Grammar community has continued to thrive. We have maintained a broad curriculum, myriad co-curricular activities, and a strong sense of belonging. Our VCE results were excellent, and students took any opportunities they could to build their skills and nurture their passions both in and out of the classroom.

The significant growth that the school is experiencing year on year means that our offerings and opportunities also grow. This year, we have again added more subjects to the curriculum, most notably in the senior Secondary school. More students and staff allows us to expand these offerings and cater to the diverse interests of the student body.

Similarly, you will find that the co-curricular opportunities are increasing, as new staff bring their ideas about and enthusiasm for any number of pursuits, be they sporting, cultural or intellectual. To have a staff so committed to developing students’ sense of self is a blessing indeed.

The School’s robust learning culture means that we are serious about developing each child holistically; engaging mind, body and heart. What we’ve learned in the last two years is that chances to develop our selves and our community should be exploited in the here and now. In 2022, I encourage all students to take up as many of the rich opportunities available to them as they can; join a club, participate in a sports team, learn an instrument, develop debating skills, showcase your artistic side, contribute to community service. In doing so, you will undoubtedly be rewarded with stronger community connections, a sense of pride and accomplishment, and a wonderful sense of wellbeing.

I look forward to seeing students flourish in all of their endeavours across each of our campuses this year.
