Grammar school to occupy VU Sunbury campus

Victoria University is pleased to announce that its Sunbury Campus will be used by Hume Anglican Grammar School for 12 months beginning January 2010.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor Management and Capital Services Jon Hickman said the University and the Grammar School had reached an in principle agreement regarding the occupancy.

“We were approached by the school just before Christmas, after its arrangements for accommodation in 2010 fell through at the last moment,” Mr Hickman said.

“The school will move in after New Year and classes will operate on the campus from 27 January.”

“This is a good outcome for all parties. The school can be confident it will have secure premises with appropriate educational facilities, and the University is pleased that the Sunbury site will continue to be used for educational purposes.”

Hume Anglican Grammar is a small but growing independent school with about 350 students and 40 staff. It was based at Craigieburn during 2008 and 2009 and intends to build a permanent home in that area.

VU closed the campus at the end of this year after numbers dropped below sustainable levels. All VU courses have been relocated to other campuses in the western suburbs.
