Year 5 - Mt Ridley

Semester 2 had commenced with much excitement and anticipation as the Year 5 cohort of students and teachers were eager to take on all academic opportunities, House events, Year level assembly, incursions, excursions and most importantly, the Year 5 camp. The roller coaster ride changed direction when we were plunged into online teaching and learning. Despite some trepidation and challenges, online learning gained momentum as the weeks progress.

Through Microsoft Teams and Seesaw, our young learners have explored various avenues of educational opportunities. The most recent and popular is the Break-out rooms option. The teachers have incorporated its use in all areas of learning. Students have responded in a highly positive way to the thrill of online learning, the regular submission of tasks and the enthusiasm of seeing and chatting with their teachers and friends online.

Analysing novels and writer’s purpose, working through interactive videos, playing math games and exploring units of inquiry have added to the enjoyment of online learning. Dressed in pyjamas and house coats, our young learners have enthusiastically participated in the discussions and learning of each day.

We take this opportunity to commend our students for their diligence, maturity and flexibility. However, none of this would have been possible without the support and dedication of all our parents. We would like to thank you for your ongoing support and assistance in this learning journey.
