Hi everyone! My name is Muskaan and I am one of the two Senate Leaders for 2021. Becoming a leader this year has been a fantastic opportunity that has enabled me to help those in my cohort. I hope that as the year progresses, I will continue to be an asset to both my year level and the school as a whole.

I became a Senate leader in the hopes of creating a great deal of change within our school’s internal environment, and I hope that through my efforts, we become more inclusive than we already are. I hope that these improvements can come in the form of increased accessibility for those that are not able-bodied, greater visibility of our school’s LGBT+ community and improved recognition of ongoing mental health concerns among students, especially those entering Secondary school and in VCE. I believe that my determination to achieve these goals models the School Values of excellence and respect.

Aside from doing Studio Arts, I am also an artist outside of school. During any spare time that I may have, I produce creative works and I am particularly interested in the forms of painting and embroidery. Lately, I’ve been attempting to crochet and knit, although it seems unlikely that I’ll improve any time soon! Some of my favourite artists are from the Pop-Art or Contemporary era, such as Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami and Yayoi Kusama. I was extremely happy to have visited the National Gallery during the Term 1 break, especially since I was able to view the famed Pablo Picasso’s ‘Weeping Woman'.  I have also included a picture of my favourite artwork in this year’s Triennial exhibition.

Thank you so much for reading my senator profile!
