Dear Parents
CHOOSING A SCHOOL FOR YOUR CHILDREN
We are pleased to present some material that may assist you in making the difficult choice of deciding which school is best for your children.
Choosing a school for your children is clearly one of the most vital decisions you will ever make. Our community has many fine schools to choose from. A major blessing in Australian communities is the very fact that parents have a choice of schools. Your choice will focus on many issues. Hume Anglican Grammar is the newest school in Craigieburn, opening its doors to primary and secondary students at the beginning of 2008. We seek to offer additional choice for quality education in the fast growing Craigieburn and regional communities of Melbourne’s northern suburbs.
Already our children have experienced the benefit of close partnerships that have been established between the school and their homes, the local community and the St Peters Parish Church. Caring teachers who are fully committed to serving the best interests of children in education at Hume Grammar are nurturing young people into a closer relationship with God, their parents and each other.
We want to work together with parents to provide the best possible environment in which young people can develop their gifts and abilities, and to help them discern God’s plan and purpose for their lives. Our curriculum is taught from a Christian worldview. We acknowledge that this is God’s world and that we are to love Him and our neighbour. This love comes to expression in service. Our students are encouraged to develop leadership skills and to grow spiritually as well as academically, physically, emotionally and socially.
I invite you to consider some of the benefits and distinctives our school offers students and families as follows. A more detailed list of distinctives is also attached in the Prospectus.
WE ARE AN OPEN INDEPENDENT ANGLICAN COMMUNITY SCHOOL.
We aim to provide quality Christian education with Primary and Secondary students being encouraged to achieve academic excellence and fully use their God-given talents. As a Church school we acknowledge strong values and have high expectations of our staff and students. We have an open enrolment policy and enrol students from all Christian denominations and other faith backgrounds, as well as enrolling children from families with no particular church or faith background. All families are expected to support the ethos of the School.
WE WILL GROW TO BE A PREP TO YEAR 12 FAMILY
In 2009 we have classes from Prep to Year 9. By 2012 we will have grown to be Prep to Year 12 with the intention to develop an Early Learning Centre (Kindergarten) as well. We are a co-educational school.
The planned Senior School will provide a wide range of VCE subjects and students will be encouraged to attain outstanding results. An extensive VET program is being envisaged. We will partner parents in helping students discern God’s plan and purpose for their future lives.
The Middle Years (Years 5-9) provide a vibrant, challenging and adolescent specific integral curriculum assisting students to make the transition from primary school to secondary school.
Primary Schooling at Hume Grammar is joyful and fun! In their learning programs children are enabled to achieve a broad range of essential academic and practical skills, and values that equip them to be able love and serve others are constantly modelled, nurtured and encouraged.
